The Coverage dashboard shows information about review coverage broken down by product, category, and brand. An important factor in driving success in product reviews is the distribution of reviews across product categories and brands. A large number of total reviews looks good, but if the reviews cover only a small percentage of your products, then you deprive customers of an effective tool for choosing the right product for them. An uneven distribution of reviews also gives a mistaken impression of poor product quality or weak retail efforts.

This dashboard gives you an overall picture of your company’s success inspiring customers to review products. With the ability to drill down to specific products and brands, you can target your marketing efforts to encourage greater customer response where reviews are weakest.

Overview

The Overview tab of the Coverage dashboard displays a handful of key metrics about your review coverage overall.

Coverage metrics are based on the last product catalog processed by Bazaarvoice and cannot be trended over time.

Product Coverage

This section answers the question:

The Product Coverage section shows how many of your products have reviews. Viewing the total review count in isolation may give you a skewed idea of how many products include reviews. For example, if you see a total of 1 million reviews, you may assume you have sufficient review coverage. However, if Product Coverage shows you that those one million reviews cover only 5% of your products, you now have a more complete picture of how customers review your products. You can then take action to encourage greater customer engagement with certain products.

  • Product coverage—The percentage of products without reviews and products with both native and syndicated reviews. The With reviews number shows the percentage of products with review content. The Without reviews number shows the percentage of products without review content.
  • Reviewed products—The total number of products with native or syndicated reviews.
  • Total products—The number of products in your product catalog.

The bar graph below your product coverage metrics displays a summary of reviews per product, another metric to assess your customers’ engagement with product reviews. This section offers a more granular breakdown of total reviews into the number of reviews per product, from zero to 10 or more. The % products bar shows the percentage of products with the corresponding volume of reviews. Click Find out which categories and brands need reviews to see which categories and brands to focus on.

These numbers not only show you how many products lack reviews, but also how many have too few reviews. Combined with the list of items from the High Performers and Low Performers tables, you can strategically target products to elicit more customer reviews or look for opportunities to use syndicated reviews.

Page View Coverage

The Page View Coverage section helps you focus on collecting reviews for the products that shoppers view the most.

As with total review count, a high number of Total page views creates a perception of success. However, if the percentage of page views with reviews is small, you miss out on the opportunity to offer more customers tools that guarantee a satisfactory purchase.

The numbers at the top of the section show the following page view values, calculated within a date range you specify from the Date range filter in the upper right corner.

The chart shows the number of Bazaarvoice page views by month over the period specified. Click a month and year to see the daily page view count in table or chart format.

  • Total page views—Total page views for the selected period. Hover your mouse cursor over the line graph to see page views for a specific week.
  • Displayed reviews—The percentage of Bazaarvoice page views with one or more reviews by month over the period specified. This value includes both native and syndicated reviews.
  • Did not display reviews—The percentage of Bazaarvoice page views without any reviews by month over the period specified.

Opportunities

The Opportunities tab helps you determine where to focus your collection efforts.

By Category

The By Category section shows a detailed breakdown of reviews by product category. If your responsibilities cover a specific product category, singling out details for that category among thousands of other products may prove challenging. By Category simplifies the process by listing all root categories. Shrinking the scope of the problem lets you take action. The table displays the top 10 categories that have the most products without reviews.

  • Root Category—The category of product being reviewed.
  • Total Products—The number of products in a category.
  • Coverage—The percentage of products with reviews. Click the arrows in the column header to arrange the table data in ascending or descending order.
  • Reviews—The number of reviews for products in the category.
  • Reviews per Product—The total number of reviews per product.
  • Reviewed Products—The number of reviewed products in a category.
  • Reviews per Reviewed Product—The number of reviews for a category divided by the number of products with reviews.

By Brand

The By Brand section shows a detailed breakdown of reviews by product manufacturer. You can use this section to find particular brands where you may be struggling with coverage. As a retailer with an established relationship to a manufacturer, you can make this situation one for a brand invite. Ask the brand to join the Bazaarvoice network, opening up a syndication opportunity. As members of the network, you each benefit from review syndication, which helps increase both sales and review numbers.

  • Brand—The product manufacturer.
  • Total Products—The number of products associated with a brand.
  • Coverage—The percentage of products with reviews. Click the arrows in the column header to arrange the table data in ascending or descending order.
  • Reviews—The number of reviews for products associated with the brand.
