What you’ll learn

Before you begin

  2. From the Portal menu hamburger menu, select Sampling Administration > Members.

Member tagging

Use member tagging to group together members of your sampling community. You can apply tags to individual members or tag members in bulk by using a comma-separated value (CSV) file. Tagging gives you greater control and flexibility when selecting members for sampling campaigns.

Use member tags to create segments based on criteria that your member registration survey doesn’t cover, such as member activity in your sampling program. For example, you could use the tag Fridge to identify members that have received a fridge from you to ensure they don’t receive the same product in future campaigns.

Best practices

  • Apply tags sparingly. Tagging is a manual process performed on individual members, and so managing member tags can become complex and time-consuming if there are too many.
  • Don’t apply tags that are likely to change. For example, Fridge could be a helpful tag that ensures a member doesn’t receive another fridge in subsequent campaigns. However, keeping a tag such as Bottom 10% reviewer accurate would involve checking and updating every member’s review rate and tags for all future campaigns.
  • Tags can be up to 30 characters long.

Create and apply tags to individual members

  1. From the Members tab, select Active.
  2. Select a member.
  3. Select Targeting.
  4. To create a new tag, type it in the Member tags field and press the tab key on your keyboard.
Note: To apply an existing tag, select it from the drop-down list in the Member tags field.
  5. Select Update.

Tag members in bulk

  1. From the Members tab, select Active, Invited, or Deactivated.
  2. Select Tag members.
  3. Upload a CSV file containing the external member IDs of the members you want to tag.
  4. Use the drop-down list in the Member ID card to select the relevant column in the CSV file.
  5. In the Tag management card, add up to 10 tags you want to apply to the selected members. Select a tag from the Member tags drop-down list, or create a new one.
  6. Select Apply tags.

Remove member tags

  1. From the Members menu, select Active.
  2. Select a member.
  3. Select Targeting.
  4. To remove a tag, select the ‘X’ beside it in the Member tags field.
  5. Select Update.

Deactivate members

Deactivate a member if they request to leave your sampling community, or to remove them because they’ve breached community rules. Deactivating a member will disable their account.

  1. From the Members tab, select Active.
  2. Select the checkbox on the left of the row of the members you want to deactivate.
  3. Select Deactivate selected.
  4. Select Deactivate member(s).
Note: To inform the selected members that you’ve deactivated them, select the Email member toggle switch.
  5. Select Yes.

Reactivate members

Reactivate a member’s account if they want to participate in your sampling community again, and you’re happy for them to do so (for example, if they haven’t breached community rules).

  1. From the Members tab, select Deactivated.
  2. Select the checkbox on the left of the row of the members you want to reactivate.
  3. Select Activate selected.

Forget members

Use the Forget member feature if a member has requested you remove their data from your sampling program. This is a GDPR-compliance feature.

Note: Forgetting a member does not delete their data, but masks it so you can't identify the member.

You can forget active and deactivated members. When you forget an active member, their account will be deactivated and their personal information will be masked.

  1. To find the member, select one of Active, Invited, or Deactivated from the Members tab.
  2. Select the name of an active or deactivated member, or the email address of an invited member.
  3. In the member’s profile page, select Forget member.
  4. In the modal that appears, select Forget member.

Export member data

To export data for all active members to a CSV file, select Export > Export from the Active tab.
